Healthy breaks don't have to be cumbersome at all, and making your own healthy snacks can be incredibly satisfying. The Internet is a veritable treasure trove of healthy recipes, but to make things easier for you, we'd like to give you some tips for healthy snacks to get started on your own.
You don't have to be a kitchen prince or have complicated ingredients and special appliances to easily make delicious and healthy snacks yourself. And bet you'll enjoy them even more because you made them yourself!
Quick and easy savory ideas
How about a simple hard-boiled egg to give you a boost when you're feeling down? Eggs are chock full of protein that will keep you feeling satiated for a long time and contain plenty of necessary minerals and vitamins.
Do you often have a savory craving and then want to raid the potato chip machine? Try home-made popcorn seasoned with curry powder, chili powder or salt with provencal herbs. You simply pop your corn kernels in a jar with a tiny bit of olive oil. This way you can customize your own popcorn with the spices of your choice to discover new taste sensations every time! Experiment on it!
Have you ever thought about a homemade, heartwarming bowl of vegetable soup as a snack? A bowl of soup gives you a win-win-win situation. You work on your daily fluid intake, you get extra vegetables and your hunger is appeased! You can also pimp your bowl of soup with some dry-roasted seeds and pits (pine and sunflower seeds, for example, go wonderfully well in soup). Need a little more energy? Then you can also crumble a small amount of feta cheese into your soup.
For the sweet tooth
Try making your own granola! You can add it to a (vegetable) yogurt on a hunger moment. Add some berries and you're good to go!
You can keep your granola in an airtight jar for quite a while. So you can enjoy 1 small effort for several breaks. And you can vary endlessly with the seeds and herbs.
How about homemade oatmeal cookies with dried cranberries? In as little as 30 minutes you can prepare 10 cookies so you can enjoy a healthy break for a long time. Or, of course, you can share them with your (home office) colleagues. You can find the recipe for Sandra Bekkari's version here.
Or try homemade chia seed balls that give you lots of protein and a long-satiated feeling. You make them in just 15 minutes and you can just keep them in the fridge until your next snack time. Just follow the easy recipe and you're all set.
As you can see, making your own healthy snacks with pure ingredients is not difficult at all. That way you can be totally sure what you're eating!
